2008 Olympics Games Beijing attracts the attentions from world. China National Convention Center (CNCC) will also attract world's attention since it will serve the 2008 Olympic Games as the Main Press Center (MPC), International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and also the site for the fencing and shooting competitions.

CNCC complex includes two office buildings, shopping in the basement and food outlets.
CNCC enjoys unparalleled location. It takes only 30 minutes to the airport and the subway linking city center and the airport has one stop at CNCC.
CNCC is owned by Beijing North Star Group. SMG, a Philadelphia-based professional venue management corporation, provides consulting services to CNCC. Beijing North Star Group, devolve Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD), Academy of Arts & Design in Tsinghua University, to improve the former lighting design solution by US NBBj. The R&D stuffs from NVC Lighting study and evaluate the improved solution, select the relevant luminaries and lamp sources, according to the perfect integration of light & architecture.
Chapter 1: Introduction of CNCC lighting design
I. Location surroundings of CNCC
Conference centers are the locations peoples mostly care, the excellent architectural lighting can indicate the prestige, make it more attractive. The arc crest is the visual direction combination center in every side, posh light illuminates the shape line of arc crest, make it look like resplendent crystal. The uplight in auditorium is separated from ambient lighting. Through the wood material as wall texture, the great magnificent image is shaped from the perfect combination of camber crest contour lines, from whichever in close or far view points.
II. Lobby hall in ground floor
The harmonious light penetrates the whole space in conference centers, make the huge spatial structures felt more integrated uniformly, beautifully. III. Auditorium hall
Concerted with interior unique sculpture works, the flexible and dazzled lighting express the magnificent impression both interior and exterior effects. It take hidden bulbs light fittings accentuate architectural and spatial features. The soft uplight indicates the metal curve aesthetics with the exterior metal curve boards. The linear ceiling strips incorporates ceiling structures perfectly well. With the uplight directional to woods texture wall, it express the spatial and depth feelings sufficiently.
IV. Convention hall
The lighting in upper convention hall is the same with lowers. The hidden cove strip lights integrates the façade space, symmetrically wash the wall and express the grand vigor. The recessed downlights, installed in cove between walls, radiate the gallery, to reach the effect—lights but no luminaries. The uplights from atrium woods ceiling and staircase lights look not only nice, but gives the visitors orientation.
V. Entertainment rooms
There is one unique and novelty entertainment location----light garden. Put the reedy shape luminiares into hard surface, emit the soft light, shape the contrast with ceiling intermixed light strips, finally it produce the image of beauty. In the area of entrance, wallwasher lights illuminate the woods texture walls, create the suitable light environment. It creates the dazzle and amazing light world, make the light garden as true, express the visual enjoyment to the visitors.

I. The lobby hall lighting design---- revolving aesthetics
Recessed downlights provide the sufficient illuminance to hotel lobby space, symmetrically, with precious directional angle louvers spotlight, to create eh soft focused beam effect, and accentuate the special art work. The spring decorative light fittings, installed in ceiling of lobby, emit the slight ray, is contained with various fiber optics tubes. It creates the magnificent “fiber optic rain” effect, express the prestige to this five-star hotel. The special structure decorative walls is emitted by interior warm white color lamp bulbs, to shape inner penetrated effect, emphasize the interior structure and spatial exclusiveness.
II. Guest room lighting design---luxury space
The interior guest rooms decorative styles is like Chinese tradintion. The fluorescent tube, hidden in dark walnut outline shape cove, express the grumous Chinese styles. The reading light on the bed head and desks, shape the nice and slight image of full real texture feelings. The art droplights in the center of room ceiling, emit the soft widespreadly, provide an luxury and comfortable living environment.
III. Dinning rooms lighting design.
The dinning rooms in this five star hotel, are divided by regular arrayed columns--- bar contour , gallery, eating area. The bar contour is illuminated by the hidden fluorescent tube, in warm white color, in the façade coves. The light shapes the decoration as more delighted. The multiple spotlights in ceiling between columns, provide the sufficient vertical illuminace for dinning people. Meanwhile the linear arrangement can create the plenty of hiberarchy. The indirect light overflows from the ceiling and non junction walls, directionally emitted to floor surface and contour. The decorative stand screens is neither obstructive for walkers, but dividing the space, to express the exclusive to hotel.

I. Hotel lobby hall lighting design
It is one ultra four star hotel of CNCC, its lighting design is full with emotions. Asymmetrical downlights express the uniformity of wall decoration, water fall shape light separates the lobby hall as reception and entertainment areas, each one has its own feelings.
II. Entertainment reception area lighting design
Through the light arrangements, the entertainment area is divided to reception and recreation areas. The light in recreation area is mainly expressing the relax and joyful environment. The recessed cove lights symmetrically provide the sufficient illuminance to task object, meanwhile accentuate the aesthetics effect from arts, attract the visitors.
III. Hotel lobby staircase lighting design
The staircase area is one place where is rich varied, the light turns to darker slowly to indicate the spatial hiberarchy. The recessed floor uplights wash the dark wood texture wall brightly, lead the customers to upstairs, and express the comfortable feeling.
IV. Dinner rooms lighting design
The decorative droplights emit the main locations in dinner areas, gradually changed. The light radiates the woods texture surface rhythmically, creates a warm and nice environment. The round board with prismatic reflectors at wall peaks, incorporates the recessed ceiling lights.
