Light Matches Environment,
as Integration of China Factors & Olympic Spirits
I. Introduction
In the world class Olympic Games stadiums projects, NVC lighting as one leading lighting firm in China, win successfully the Olympic projects, such as Olympic Village, Olympic Central Area, China National Convention Center (CNCC), China Agricultural University Gymnasium, Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium, and some other Olympic projects, and the one of Asian top railway station project, namely Tianjin Railway Station. The NVC won projects cover outdoor lighting, sports lighting, hotel lighting, convention lighting, and home lighting, and NVC is the top one China lighting firm with the most Olympic projects this time.
In April 2008, NVC has successfully finished the jobs of operation and installation, illustrated the whole strength in this Olympic time. The major product in these Olympic projects are customized for Olympic stadiums, the improved luminaries meet the demand from Olympic Committee, reach the advanced level worldwide in lighting industry. We incorporated the China factors into luminaries design, and within short time manufacture all fittings from design , test, manufacture and installing. The NVC strong ability in lighting field is clearly demonstrated, and stepped to the higher level worldwide.
II. Project Introduction
The Olympic Green is an Olympic Park in Beijing that is constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics.Olympic Green Central Area, is the main location of Beijing Olympic, located in central northern line of Beijing, covered with 315 square hektares, as the extend symbol of traditional Beijing factors. The Olympic Green central areas design indicates the spirits of “Green Olympic, Hi-tech Olympic, and People’s Olympic”. The functions contain the transport and conventions, office, commercial and shopping, culture and hotels, and resident buildings.
III. Project background
With the invitations from Olympic Committee and contractors, NVC attend the project bid application. NVC arranged the design, and technical talents in firm, and retained the master class lighting designer as lighting consult, and retain the experts as consults, who are from Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD), Academy of Arts & Design in Tsinghua University,Fudan University, Shanghai Luminaire Design Institute,etc. Through the strict evaluation ,investigation, and rigorous bid submitting schedules, NVC won the second phase lighting design in Olympic projects.
IV. Luminaire introduction in Olympic Green
i).Celebration square: Wing series road lights
The celebration square is the core part in night landscape of central line building system. It is located by National Stadium(Bird Nest), the Wing series road lights from NVC provide the efficient light and security to the pedestrians, with the customized design and manufacturing.
Luminaire design:
The wing series of road lights indicate the shape of propitious bird, tight flexible and natural, and present the spirit of Olympic Games, faster, higher, and stronger.
The light fixture structure is in harmonies with location surroundings, from the materials and color requests. Medium-grey color body, and special steel material is punched to the rectangle type, the idea is from the design of Bird Nest. Fashionable shape design is also unique among the current road lights markets; it absorbs the different features of outdoor application in artificial and natural light environments, and also adapts the visual request within the slanting body shape. The surface painting is “matte sub lighted method” to finish, make the procedures, manufacturing, maintenance, and outside shape into high level balance. The open wings with adequate light distributing, meeting the functional demand for general lighting, present the perfect understanding of “wing” philosophy.

The big wing: 12meters high, arms length 3meters, sources: 2x400W Ceramic Metal Halide;
The small wings: 6meters high, arms length 1.38meters, source 150W Ceramic Metal Halide.

ii) Linear array: low temperature,glare-proof,adjustable angle underground lights and separate fixtures structure.
In the tropic of “Green Olympic”, we need put the “green” to the “Olympic Green”, especially the Bird Nest stadium, the trees are presented as green color light,
A). The spot array underground lights is installed without green bounding.

Luminaire design:
The lights are installed under trees, the same height with decorative tree bounding, pedestrians can talk under trees, and stay on the light surface. The light collimation spot is at 1 meter distance and 4 meters high. These customized lights can be adjustable, and glare-proof

iii). Central paths: the complete reversal lawn lights
The central paths take the lawn lights, with the same height of green bounding, provide the basic lighting for central paths. The lawn lights is glare-proof and nice design, and it can be reversal completely, take the great convenience for maintenance.

iv). Recreation garden: professional LED curve tubes and adjustable underground lights
The recreation garden locates in northern area of central line, the low level illuminace is preferred. According to the environment request, the hidden LED curve lights are installed under the chairs, with adjustable angle underground lights. The entertainment is illuminated by such LED and underground lighting method.

V. Conclusion
In the Olympic park, Olympic Green, the lights were born for the environments, and become one factor into environment.
